Sunnie is the kind of person to put her family first, and always show up for the people she loves.

Sunnie always initiates family get-togethers and invites the family over for parties at her house. She loves going on vacation, drinking wine, and spending time with friends and family. She is a wife, a mother to two beautiful girls, a teacher, a daughter, a sister, and a living kidney donor.

When Sunnie’s brother, John, was very ill, tired, and weak she was there for him. Then when John found out he needed a kidney transplant, Sunnie immediately volunteered to get tested to see if she was a match. Luckily, she was and she gave John a healthy kidney with zero hesitation! The transplant was a success, and John now has the energy to enjoy life and play with his 4-year-old.

Because of Sunnie's gift of living donation, her and John can now celebrate their birthday's together for the rest of their lives. (Sunnie and John share the same birthday!) Organ donation can be a beautiful thing, especially if the Gift of Life helps to save your own brother.

Do you know someone who has been touched by organ, eye or tissue donation?

We want to honor them. If you would like to nominate a loved one who gave the gift of life, please click the button below. ConnectLife will contact you when your loved one is chosen for the Hero of the Month.
