During these hard times, we want our community to know that ConnectLife is still dedicated to our mission of educating the community, inspiring donation, and connecting lives. While many of our supporters and the WNY community will be at home for the coming days, we thought it would be a good idea to share activities and practices you can do in the safety of your home to help stay positive, stay well, and stay connected.
Each day, for the next 14 days, ConnectLife will be sharing one activity or practice to help lift your spirits. It is very important to take some time for yourself to unwind and practice self-care, for both your mental and physical health.
With that being said, here are 14 Activities and Practices to Get You Through This Pandemic/Self-Isolation:
Day 1: Coloring Page "Keep Your Head Up, Keep Your Heart Strong"
Coloring is not only fun, but there are many known benefits, including helping people of all ages reduce stress and stay calm. Download this coloring page, take some time to color it, and tag ConnectLife in a photo of your completed masterpiece on social media!
Day 2: Learning Mantras to Reduce Anxiety
“Often, when in the throes of anxiety, we feel as if it will last forever and that makes us panic more,” said Diane Sherry Case, a life coach and writing coach who teaches licensed therapists how to incorporate writing into their practice.
That’s why it’s important to remind yourself that this panic-filled moment won’t last forever. Enter this mantra. “Repeat ‘this too will pass’ in rhythm with your breath,” Case said.

(If you plan on sharing via social media, tag us in your posts at @weconnectlife.)
- Imagine your perfect day: write about it!
- What is the best way to lift someone’s spirits?
- Make a gratitude list of everything you’re thankful for this week.
- Make a list of positive “I am…” statements
- What inspires you to be a better person? Why?
Day 7: Hearts for Healthcare Workers
Healthcare workers are on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic. We would like to honor our healthcare heroes across Western New York and the world, including those on our staff.
Have you heard of the growing movement called, Hearts for Healthcare Workers? Join the movement! Craft your own heart (be as creative as you'd like!) and display your heart on your front door/windows to show support and thanks to healthcare workers that they can see on their drives into work.
Watch a tutorial on how to make your own heart.
Day 8: Take a Break, Go Outside
Most of us are spending our days inside. No matter where you live, go outside and get some fresh air. Take that time to do some deep breathing exercises and try to calm your mind.
The sunshine really is a mood-booster! Tag us in a photo you take of the sunshine.
Day 9: Mad Libs
Spring is officially here in Western New York. Download our Mad Lib game and tag ConnectLife with your answers on social media - find us at @weconnectlife. We want to see your answers!
Download Mad Libs here.
Day 10: 5 Minute Self-Care
Start your weekend off right. During these hard times, it's important to take moments for yourself. Take 5 minutes of your day to practice good self-care.
Day 11: Read a book!
Sunday nights are the perfect time to pick up a book. Whether you are re-reading your favorite book or starting a new one, take some time tonight or this week to read.
Interesting fact: Reading helps to improve your memory. But how?
When reading you have to remember characters, their backgrounds, etc. Every new memory you create forges new synapses (brain pathways) and strengthens existing ones, which assists in short-term memory recall as well as stabilizing moods!
Day 12: Free Daily Games
Take some time to play - there are many places to find FREE daily games online. Play with your friends and family. And try a new game each day - click here.
Day 13: Learn How to Draw Your Pet!
Have you ever wanted to draw a portrait of your pet, but don't know where to start? Well now you can! Check out this step-by-step guide.
