to Kick-off Holiday Heroes Campaign

More than 30 agencies and city/town leadership across Western New York are giving the gift of life this holiday season by hosting drives in December and January, a critical time of year for blood donation. These events will also include opportunities for people to enroll as organ and tissue donors on the New York State Donate Life Registry.

WHAT: Press conference for the 2019 Holiday Heroes campaign

WHEN: Tuesday, December 10th at 1:30pm

WHO: Speakers will include Thomas J. Quatroche Jr., PhD, President & CEO of ECMC; Mike Wolter, Vice President of Blood Donor Services at ConnectLife; Captain Robert Janowski, Lackawanna Police Department; Chief James Fino, Lackawanna Fire Department; Bob Lester, donor father and retired Lackawanna Police Officer.

WHERE: ECMC, Main Hospital lobby, 462 Grider Street, Buffalo, NY

WHY: The holidays are generally a time when fewer people give blood, but the need for blood remains constant. ConnectLife is the primary supplier of blood and platelet products for ECMC, Kaleida Health, Eastern Niagara Health, Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, Bradford Regional Medical Center, Olean General Hospital, Brooks-TLC Hospital System, and Wyoming County Community Health System. All blood donated through ConnectLife remains in WNY for local patients in need.

Approximately 10,000 New Yorkers are currently waiting for a lifesaving organ transplant. New York State has one of the lowest donor registration rates in the country.

Suggested ARRIVAL by 1:15 PM at the ECMC Main Hospital Entrance, REPORT to FRONT DESK to REQUEST ESCORT to event location.

Unyts is now ConnectLife! ConnectLife helps people help others. As a federally designated not-for-profit organ procurement organization and community blood bank, we save and enhance lives through organ, eye, tissue and blood donations.
