Need for blood following winter weather
Currently, ConnectLife has less than a one-day supply of types O positive and negative blood available for patients in need. Due to the snowy conditions we are facing today across WNY, a strong turnout by blood donors for the remainder of this week is vital in ensuring a safe blood supply.
Winter months are typically slower for blood donation because of inclement weather and seasonal illness. However, ConnectLife is responsible every day for providing our local hospitals with lifesaving blood products. ConnectLife is the primary supplier of blood products to Kaleida Health, ECMC, Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, Eastern Niagara Health, Wyoming County Community Health System, Olean General Hospital, Brooks-TLC Health System and Bradford Regional Medical Center. As WNY’s only community blood bank it is our responsibility to answer the call for blood products to ANY hospital in need, but we need help from blood donors to do that.
ConnectLife’s Neighborhood Blood Donation Centers have appointments available this week-
ConnectLife Headquarters Donation Center
4444 Bryant and Stratton Way, Williamsville
Southgate Plaza Donation Center
984 Union Road, West Seneca
Tonawanda Donation Center
96 Niagara Street, Tonawanda
For a full list of blood drives please visit www.ConnectLifeGiveBlood.org or call 716.529.4270. We are urging anyone who is eligible to donate, and especially those with type O blood. Walk-ins are always welcome.
