After months of planning, The Marcy Dandes Family Bike Ride took place at 8:00am on a Saturday morning, September 28, 2019. More than 250 bikers and walkers slowly shuffled into Delaware Park, in the heart of Buffalo, New York, ready to walk and/or bike around Ring Road.
DJ Milk spun music while participants lined up at the start. While speeches were being made, Mark Simon surprised the Dandes family with a certificate for a Red Oak tree that will be planted in honor of Marcy Dandes inside Delaware Park. Then, a check was presented for $75,000 that was raised by community members and ride teams. Both ConnectLife and ECMC will split the proceeds.
After the bike ride, we had an after party, kids rodeo, and food and drinks for all of the participants.
This event would not have been the success that it was without the 40 volunteers that helped make this event go so smoothly. From registration to cleanup - thank you, to our volunteers!
