To our WNY community and supporters, remember that social distancing does not mean social disengagement. It is critical that you book an appointment to donate blood in the next month, specifically after April 6, 2020. We are taking appointments ONLY. Our team is working to even out appointment slots to ensure our staff and donors are safe AND the blood supply is stable well into April.
Even if you can't find an appointment right now - local patients at WNY hospitals will still need you in the coming weeks. Click here to schedule your appointment to donate blood – appointments available throughout April.
Important Update: ConnectLife's Eastern Hills Blood Donation Center is moving to ConnectLife headquarters - effective immediately. We are continuing to monitor the outbreak of COVID-19. Information and resources on COVID-19, blood donation, and social distancing can be found here.
Mike Renzoni has been donating blood with Unyts since 2008 and does so typically at work because Unyts hosts drives at his place of work.
"The bloodmobile pulls up and I'll donate there," Mike said. "It's super convenient."
While it's easy to think that someone else will donate, or there's always lots of blood to go around, Mike realizes this isn't the case; especially during busy seasons like summer.
"There is no synthetic substitution for blood. We are the only source and people need it every day to survive," explained Mike. "It's my way to help others in a little way."
Still on the fence about giving blood? There's always the crowd favorite of the cookies afterwards; which Mike agrees is one the best parts about giving blood.
