ConnectLife has seen a tremendous response from our WNY community after our call for blood donors, but our work is not over. Collecting blood is a marathon, not a sprint. Blood donors are needed to consistently give now and in the future.
Remember the words of the U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Jerome Adams: "Social distancing does not mean social disengagement."
We will be taking appointments ONLY, for the foreseeable future. Even if you can't find an appointment right now - local patients at WNY hospitals will still need you in the coming weeks. Click here to schedule your appointment to donate blood – appointments available throughout April and May.
Important Update: ConnectLife's Eastern Hills Blood Donation Center is moving to ConnectLife headquarters - effective immediately. We are continuing to monitor the outbreak of COVID-19. Information and resources on COVID-19, blood donation, and social distancing can be found here.
Kathy started donating blood in her youth and was especially inspired by her father’s dedication to blood donation, especially after her younger sister got Leukemia at the age of four. Kathy and her father continued a friendly competition to see who could donate most regularly. Kathy has donated 11 gallons of blood so far!
Kathy has another personal connection to donation, and feels very passionately about helping others in their time of need. Her son David passed away in March 2017 and gave the gift of life to 5 others through organ donation. Kathy is a registered organ donor as well, and is hopeful she can save lives in her passing just like her son David did. She has always told her children to give to others less fortunate. David regularly donated blood just like his mom, and so did his grandfather. Kathy likes to think that their family has a legacy of donation.
Kathy wants the community to know that the best part of donating with Unyts is knowing that she has given the gift of life to others in need. The truly greatest gift we can all give is to give to others.
