Christine Allen began donating blood with Unyts while attending Wheatfield High School. She tells us that her first blood donation was with Unyts, and while she's donated with other organizations since that first donation, Unyts is by far her favorite.
"The people are always kind, compassionate and make you feel comfortable. After donating you leave feeling appreciated," Christine said.
Her blood donation experiences were so impactful that Christine decided she wanted to do more with the organization and became a Unyts volunteer in 2015.
"I wanted to give back to this incredible organization and hopefully provide the donors with the same great experiences I have had over the past 8 years donating blood with Unyts," she said.
"What I find most rewarding about volunteering is the impact I can have. Each person I can convince to join the organ donor registry can potentially save several lives," Christine said. "I also really enjoy conversing with all the donors and I hope they leave with a sense that they made a difference and that their efforts are appreciated."
Christine is not only a blood donor and a Unyts volunteer, but she also works in the medical field and sees first hand every day the impact that blood donations have on our community.
"I see firsthand people who require blood products or who are waiting for an organ transplant. With Unyts I have the ability to encourage people to become an organ donor, and give the gift of life. I enjoy the opportunity Unyts affords me to educate the public on organ donation."
Christine urges everyone to donate as often as you can and we do too! We're thankful for blood donors like Christine!
