My daughter Lexi has had countless red blood cell and platelet transfusions. She was diagnosed with ALL Leukemia at the age of 3 in 2013. Her treatment was long and hard, and she had to face many different side effects: an extremely large blood clot due to her PICC line from her arm to her jugular down to her arm. She had fungal lesions on her kidneys, liver, spine, and spleen, and she lost so much muscle tone/chemotherapy toxicity that she had severe neuropathy and couldn't walk for a long time. Lexi is my hero. She is now 7 years old and has been out of treatment for a year and a half.
I donate blood because I know firsthand that it can help others who are in situations like we have been through with Lexi. I would like everyone to please think about donating platelets, red cells, or double red cells as so many trauma or cancer patients can benefit from your gift.
