We asked Alex, what first inspired him to donate blood? He kept it simple. He said, “To save a life!” And each blood donor can save up to three lives right here in Western New York.
Alex chose to donate double red cells, which is when we collect only your red blood cells. Why is this donation type needed? Because red blood cells are the most needed blood component for transfusion.

The type of patients that typically need transfusions are those getting surgery, an organ transplant, and cancer treatments. Also, people with anemia and sickle cell disease also need red blood cells!
When you donate double red cells, it will usually take 60 minutes and you can donate every 112 days.
Hear from Alex about his experience donating with ConnectLife…
“My experience was great, and my phlebotomist Angela was awesome. The process was easy and painless. And in a time of need, your donation save lives and I feel great about that. It means even more that my donation will stay right here in Western New York!”
