LeighAnn was born and raised in Buffalo. She works as an accounting associate with PCB Piezotronics. When she's not working, she loves spending quality time with family and friends - frequenting breweries, dining at new restaurants, and appreciating all the growth Buffalo has seen over the last decade!
She left Buffalo back in 2013 to support her husband’s career path. He is now the Head Men’s Basketball Coach for Medaille College. They eventually moved back to Buffalo last year from Pennsylvania when he took this new position at Medaille. (Fun fact: This is his first head coaching job and it's at the Alma Mater where LeighAnn and him met!)
LeighAnn and her husband Keith also recently rescued a puppy, George, in June! He is a 6 month old Lab/Hound/Rottweiler mix. George has definitely been their favorite part of 2020.
LeighAnn was recruited by her twin sister to donate blood with ConnectLife at one of our mobile blood drives at Remedy Pain & Performance in Orchard Park, NY. She had always wanted to donate blood, and felt there was no better time than 2020.
Hear what she had to say about her blood donation experience…
“This was my first donation! I wanted to help other people. Especially now, I feel that many people could benefit. This was a long time coming. The process was relatively quick and painless! I answered health questions beforehand to ensure I was eligible for donation, my arm was prepped, and the blood donation took around 7 minutes."
Her person advice for blood donors? "Make sure you are properly hydrated and remember to have a big meal before donating blood!" says LeighAnn.
We asked her, “What do you want people to know that are too scared to donate blood?” She said, “There’s no need to be scared! The staff was thorough, comforting, and professional. I was in good hands. I will definitely donate again. I felt safe and at ease the whole time!”
ConnectLife is Western New York’s only community blood bank. That means when you donate blood with us, your donation still stay right here in our community. That prospect really excited LeighAnn!
“I am all about community and Buffalove!” says LeighAnn, “Blood donation is crucial, but the fact that someone in my own community will benefit, makes this extra special to me.”
