Timothy M. DeBoy of Cheektowaga became an eye and tissue donor upon his passing on April 12, 2011.

His mother, Kristen, shared this remembrance:

Timothy entered this world late, coming 13 days past his due date. He was a typical little boy, always playing in the dirt, wanting to be outside, and wanting to help his dad fix things with his Cool Tools. He grew up playing little league football, loving the outdoors, being with his family, and just having fun. He was also a jokester, always pulling pranks, and doing what he could to entertain people, just to make them smile or laugh.

He grew up to be a very compassionate, caring young man with a fantastic sense of humor. He could brighten any room with his gleaming smile, he could make a person laugh to the point of tears, and always wanted to lend an ear to someone who just needed a friend. People living life to the fullest was what he always wanted to see. He wanted to see people happy.

We lost our beloved Timothy suddenly, on April 12, 2011, at the young age of only 17 years old. Not only was this a devastating loss to his family and closest friends, but as time went on, we also learned what a terrible loss it was to his classmates, even some from other schools. There was such an outpouring from so many on how he had always been there for them to talk to and to give uplifting words of positivity and encouragement.

In supporting our son's character, we knew we had to answer "yes" to the question of him being a donor for Unyts. Although he never verbalized his wishes with regards to organ and tissue donation, we felt it was who he was – someone who always wanted to help others and better their lives. We are proud to call him a hero, for the man he saved from knee replacement surgery, to the man who received a new view with his cornea, to the woman who received much needed blood vessels, and to the many others whose lives will benefit from his legacy that will live on - which was to somehow improve others' lives, even in the simplest ways possible.

Timothy, your mom, dad, two sisters, family, and friends, miss you dearly every single day. We are proud of you for being the February 2016 Unyts  “Hero of the Month,” especially knowing the reasons we were proud of you when you were here, can continue in the "now," with all of your donations. You touched so many lives while you were here, and I know you are happy and proud to know you can continue to help others and make a difference for them. Congratulations Bubba – we all love and miss you so much.
