Pride Saves Lives

Updated: Jun 29, 2023

During June, we celebrate Pride month. On Sunday, June 4, a group of ConnectLife staff, friends, and family will be representing our company and our mission at the Buffalo Pride Parade.

Our slogan is Pride Saves Lives.

No matter who you are or who you love, you have the power to save lives through organ and blood donation. If you are going to the parade, make sure you wave and say hi!

Pride saves lives

LGBTQ+ Organ Donation

Some people are not aware that a person’s sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or expression does NOT prevent that person from becoming an organ donor.

We encourage everyone to register to be an organ donor at ConnectLife.org/Register.

There are currently over 10,000 New Yorkers currently waiting for an organ transplant. Provide hope to those waiting, sign up to be an organ donor today. And most importantly, let your closest family and friends know of your wishes to donate.

LGBTQ+ Blood Donation

The FDA announced on May 11, 2023, a final guidance establishing a blood donor screening process based on individual donor assessments. What does that mean exactly?

It means that the deferral that gay men faced for decades has been lifted. Years of research and science has shown that there is no true basis for a potential donor to be ineligible simply on the basis of being a man who has sex with men.

Looking for more answers? Please read through our complete guide to this change and what it means for potential ConnectLife blood donors on our blog "ConnectLife Supports FDA Guidance Implementing Individual Donor Assessments Change"

We are excited to share we will be implementing this change and will be ready to welcome new donors soon.
