ConnectLife rewards local blood donors with a morning pick-me-up at Tim Hortons
ConnectLife, Western New York’s only community blood bank, always wants to make blood donors feel thanked – after all, they’re the ones giving a piece of themselves to save the lives of their neighbors at local hospitals. In June, that means helping them get their day started at a Western New York hotspot.
Throughout the month of June, all ConnectLife donors will walk away with a $5 Tim Hortons gift card so they can treat themselves to coffee and a donut in appreciation of the lifesaving work they’ve done. And those donations are truly needed at a tough time for blood supplies at local hospitals.
“Every year when summer starts, we see a big drop in blood donations,” said Sarah Diina, Senior Director of Communications & External Affairs at ConnectLife. “Family trips and outdoor activities make donors harder to find, and we can’t hold drives at schools on summer break. All of that adds up to a big challenge for the blood supply and makes us so thankful for the donors who do come out to support this critical need.”
Platelet donors will get an extra thank you in June thanks to Buffalo Trim. The local barbershop chain is rewarding them with coupons for a free men’s haircut at one of its seven locations as an extra incentive to supply the constant and growing need for platelets in Western New York.
All the blood donated to ConnectLife stays local, helping nearly every hospital in WNY’s eight counties maintain safe inventory levels. Donation appointments are available at centers in Williamsville, West Seneca, and Tonawanda, as well as mobile donation sites around the area each day.
