Honoring our heroes... Cheryl Yurek

Cheryl Yurek was the most generous and loving mother, grandmother, friend, and person. She was the type of person that always had a kind word to say.
Cheryl served her community as a volunteer firefighter, EMT, and PTA president.
She was also known for being a good baker. Cheryl took part in Peanut Butter & Jelly Drive in Lockport from the beginning, even storing jars in her home. She ran vendor fairs, assisted in wrestling tournaments, baked pies and cookies for friends and family. There wasn’t a moment that she wasn’t helping others.
In 2015, Cheryl became a living kidney donor and donated a kidney to a stranger, but after the transplant, a bond was formed. The families even bonded after they met up and got together and continue to stay close and connected to this day.
In 2020, Cheryl died from an undiagnosed aneurysm. Her selflessness allowed her other kidney and liver to be donated. Cheryl’s family and friends have had blood drives in her name, participated in memorial walks for ConnectLife, and strive to be as caring as she was.
"Be like Cheryl" is the family's motto and goal.
